How to hack your perfectionism in business
Struggle with perfectionism?
I’m talking about that sneaky little voice in the back of your mind that holds you back from launching your product, or service offering, reaching out to that client or content creation.
Here’s a quick trick I use to get over perfectionism when it becomes too loud: start with something you know you CAN do and finish it.
It helps your brain get started and boost your day when you get something off your list. Build some confidence and energy by simply starting with one thing and get it done. Something you are familiar with and know what to do with helps your brain and body calm down and find the flow. Once you’re in the flow you’re less likely to self-criticize.
And secondly, start your day in the morning with writing or a launch. You have less time to overthink and your brain is usually still waking up. I’m not a 5 AM crazy morning person. I’m talking the moment you sit down to start your day starts.
Bonus: if you are a writer – don’t let yourself edit. Write everything THEN edit—even your content captions. Resist the urge to edit and get critical - tell yourself I’m going to keep writing until it’s done and then I can change anything.
Done is better than perfect. Aim I right? And ignore all the fancy things you think you SHOULD be doing. Do you. The only way to move forward is by actually creating progress and putting your stuff out in the world.
